La Mian outing

Today had yet another lovely day. Nowadays...I look forward to Fridays even more than ever coz it's a day we go home...coz usually spend Wed to Fri at mum's house. And also a day when Cheewan has no tution...so he comes home early. And a eat out day for mum and dad due to my request....really dun wanna mum to always cook and cook and clean all day long. Am delighted that Pat & family and iris were available too. Mum wanted to bring Ellie to eat her favourite la mian so off we all went to try out the new la mian restaurant nearby.

There is la mian and also steamboat as well. Mum and sisters ended up eating steamboat while we all ate la mian. I asked Ellie abt the la mian...and so her respond was " It's the same.....same as the Takashimaya la mian. It's delicious." The Takashimaya la mian she was referring to was the crystal jade la mian. She slurped her noodles up just like Po in kungfu panda. It was really funny...come to think about it...should have took a photo with her with her slurping noodles.

Me and Cheewan took turns to eat our la mian as Elijah didn't want to be stationary once again. I must say the la mian was very reasonable and generous for its price. Overall...not too bad. And think mum and dad enjoyed themselves for this meal.

Anyway...a few photos taken during the meal.

Elijah's 2nd ride up the flyer

Today is Elijah's 2nd visit to the flyer..hehehe fortunate boy..riding it for the 2nd time. This time he was awake...thankfully. Hhahaha. Anyway we were up on higher ground for a reason...Elijah's gu gu had graduated liao...so Cheewan suggested that we went up there for a family potrait....was actually to avoid having to take a professional photo. Oh well..it was a fun ride...but the staff gave us a little problem and denied us of a whole capsule. Well....persistence does the trick I suppose. Hhehehe.

We headed to a nice dim sum buffet at Swissotel Hotel. It was a lovely morning...we did some shopping but in the end didn't buy anything for ourselves. Bought a set of flashcard from Life baby for Elijah to decorate his room. Expensive flashcards hahahha.

Anyway here's some photos taken in the flyer.

Elijah's urine episodes

These 2 mornings had been busy...poor Elijah had leaking pampers problem. He never had that till yesterday morning. Poor him....he cried at about 6.45am on 28th morning and 5.50am the 29th mornings...both mornings I realized his pampers leaked when I carried him. So poor thing..he was wet...didnt fuss till he couldn't take it I suppose. Can't help but wonder if he cried due to hunger or due to wet pampers. But anyway felt so poor thing for him coz had to change him out at those sleepy hours and even had to wake Cheewan up to help with changing the bedsheet while I was feeding Elijah. It must have been so uncomfortable to sleep with wet wet clothes and bed. Elijah...hope mummy and daddy will be putting on ur pampers with more care in future and no more attack of the leaking pampers yah.

Coincidentally U also fountained on the towel while dressing U up...so cant help it but to feel these urine episodes heheheh. Anyway...mummy felt so bad for u coz had to put U thru the changing in wee hours...must be cold for u too. Huggies for U. Poor daddy too..hope u both will be able to have a good sleep and no more such episodes yah.

Contented Little Elijah

Eversince Sis bought for me the book titled 'The New Contented Little Baby' by Gina Ford....I've decided to try out her schedule/routine...with much modification of course. I started him on the schedule on 14th June.

The basic principle of the book is that baby must be gaining 180-240g of weight per week to assume that baby has enough food storage to sleep through the night. I think that is a great way to train Elijah...and in a way..I guess having him on mix feed....day breastmilk and night formula allows him to sleep better and allows me to start training him to sleep though the night.

The tough part of this training is that our lives are kind of tied to his schedule and it gets tough in the evening as we settle for dinner at 7-8pm. By then, Elijah is usually sleepy but we cannot let him have his bedtime yet as we're not home by then. Poor Elijah always becomes cranky at the evening time due to tiredness.

The other tough part of the training is that each meal may not be a constant quantity..eg. it can be range from 60ml to 150ml. I used to think once the baby's tummy expand as we increase the feeding quantity...you must fill that amount into his tummy before he can be satisfied but after following the schedule/routine..it seems that that is no true. He can even be happy with 60ml but of course with some complains. But once he knows his routine.....he seems to be happy following it.

Right now he feeds at 5-6.45am, 9am, 1pm, 5pm, 7pm, 9pm and 11.30pm.

Total feed: Close to 800ml per day

Day 1
Elijah seems puzzled by this new routine we've gotten him into. However, he seems happier (crying less) as he is fed before he is hungry...or before he has to cry for his milk. He slept from 8.30pm till 6am.

Day 2
He is starting to get used to it...mabbe irritated as he gets woken up by mummy..but good thing is he gets fed so no complains from him. The other thing is that he needs to be stimulated to sleep less. So far so good..he is sleeping less in the day..with the help of rattles and playmat. Am happy to get him to sleep less but that also means I have less personal time..oh well for the sake of peaceful nights in future...I shall make that sacrifice. He slept from 9pm to 6am.

Day 3
He seems to be totally used to the schedule by now...sleeping less and getting the rest at night. However...to my horror...he woke up at 1am. Luckily....I pacify him to go back to bed by cuddling him just for now. Then 3.30am...he woke up AGAIN!!!! I tried the same thing...cuddling..but he continued on. So I put him down and let him cry....I was persistent not to feed him as he wasn't hungry for the past 2 days. It wasn't hunger...perhaps habit more than hunger..coz he used to wake up at that time. He cried and cried and cried...but I had to persist on...no carrying..just patting. The whole night...I patted and patted...he cried and cried for almost 1-1.5hour. Finally at 5am he stopped.....and slept. Ah...it wasn't hunger then coz he could fall asleep. Poor him....deep inside it's painful....but I know I had to do it for a better future. I want him to get used to sleeping through...especially since he is on formula. I had to wake him up for a top-up feed.

Day 4
He woke up again at 6am...I painfully dragged and waited till 6.20am before I fed him.

Day 5
He woke up at 5.30am....I again painfully dragged till 6am.

Day 6
Ah...he is getting used to it...this time 6.45am.

Following days
Eversince, he has been waking up about 6.45am. Way to go Elijah. He did wake up at 3+am sometimes but he would self soothe by suckling to bed....and that was an achievement!!! He also wakes up at about 5+am but he would suckle till 6.45am before he cries...not sure if he has been trained by cruel mummy to cry only when really really hungry. Anyway he's been such a darling. It's painful to train him like this but I know he is feeding enough...so it shouldn't hurt. It's not easy for me too....but mabbe he knows how tough it is for us too....mabbe he does love us alot..to do it for us. My darling Elijah...I love U lots lots!!! And Daddy loves U too. We know u've been a good boy all this while.

He has been waking up between 5.15am - 6.30am eversince...most of the time he wakes up at about 6am...hope he could wake up even later yah. But it's ok...mummy thinks U've been great already. Way to go. Anyway just went to PD on Sat....he gained 1.05kg since he last visited the PD on 1st June...that meant he gained close to 180g per week. Guess he is drinking enough yah. :)

Feverish day

Today poor Elijah had a cranky time...he had fever as well. Probably the cause and effect of the 2nd 6 in 1 jab. Poor him...gave him paracetamol the 1st time..kind of forgotten about the fever kool patch that's why. Fed him the medicine with the help of sis...hahahha little Elijah was quite smart....didn't quite like the taste of medicine...almost expel it out. But was really thankful his fever subsided at night. Hope it wasn't too uncomfy. Poor boy.

The attack of smelly ears

Yesterday night, Elijah woke up a couple of times....crying. Everytime I carried him, I could smell his smelly ear. It has been there for a couple of days but since we're going to see Dr Ong the PD...I thought perhaps we could wait till Mon coz his appointment for vaccination was then. However, the waking up problem caused me to worry if his ears were bothering him lots and causing him discomfort. I woke up and text Jeremy's mum(a doctor) if it was ok to wait if we suspect him of having a ear infection. However, the message came back was ' See the PD ASAP...it can be serious.' Oh my that worried me lots...I have waited a few days already....I really hope that that infection wouldn't cause any harm to his hearing. If it did...I'll never be able to forgive myself. Sometimes I feel that as a new mum...I'm really taking things too lightly and not like an anxious mum at all. Not sure if it's good or bad. Sighz.

Anyway, managed to walk-in to Aglow clinic. So we immediately dressed Elijah up and brought him to the PD. I was totally impressed with their good service...they already got Elijah's card ready and put him in the queue right from the moment I called up. At least, they did not make us wait for many hours even though Sat is usually a VERY busy day.
Elijah had his vaccination done as well. It was really funny as he cried before the needle reach his thigh as if he knew the needle was coming already. Hhahaha....could Elijah be scared of needles....I hope not eh....boys must be brave mah. Wonder if he'll inherit his daddy's fears as well. Hhahaha.
Even though...Dr Ong is more expensive than Dr Teo at Baby Bear Clinic...I am happy with Dr Ong and will bring Elijah back to visit him when there's any problem.

Elijah's 2nd 6 in 1 jab
Elijah screaming his head off after the injection. Poor boy...it's ok. Part and parcel of live eh.

Elijah's 1st laughter

I managed to fit Elijah into the sarong carrier...in a kangeroo fashion. It was quite fun putting him in but he needed to be in a cross legged manner...was afraid it'll be too uncomfy. However, to my surprise, he seemed pretty happy and contented in that position. Hurray...got him a good position where he can see everything and not be lying in the carrier.

While waiting for dad to fetch me to their house, I was playing with Elijah in front of the mirror. Suddenly, he chuckled. Ah...how sweet...that was the 1st time Elijah really laughed. My little boy has grown more and more yah....his laughter really melts my heart. I wished I could capture the moment but it's not possible coz I'm all alone and once I whip out the camera...I'm confident he will not laugh anymore.

Anyway..only manage to capture a photo of him in the kangeroo position. Here it goes.

Baby Bjorn's baby shower

Today is an exciting day...Elijah is going to meet baby Bjorn and Auntie Debbie at last. Auntie Debbie is my nicey colleague in HQ.....always so willing to help me...wouldn't be able to survive if not for nice buddies like Debbie. Was so happy when I found out she was pregnant too last year.....got pregnant buddy. :)

Anway Elijah hanged out at ah ma's house with Ellie jie jie and managed to pose a nice photo in his cute little tigger romper. Then headed to Merchant Court to Baby Bjorn's baby shower. Baby Bjorn is so so cute. At last...gotta meet him in person liao and Debbie looks great and happy. Was so impressed that Elijah was so well-behaved. He was sleepy so Cheewan pushed him in his pram....he feel asleep not long after. Then when he woke up...he did not cry..and was quite happy still. Good job Elijah....U are really a darling whenever U meet Daddy or Mummy's friends. Although life is different with you around but I think both of us are enjoying life with you and loving it. Although we had to take turns to eat and stuff like that...that seems so minute compared to the joy U've brought us. We love U Elijah!!!

Look at the 2 cutie pies.....I love their expression...the slightly puzzled look.
Another beautiful pose...Ellie with her sarong baby carrier for Tortie..her little bear

Elijah's dad doing his fair share of daddy duty...feeding Elijah. Way to go Cheewan...U've been a great dad...sharing each and every bit of Elijah's life and being very proactive.
Me and Debbie with Baby Bjorn..isn't he a sweetie too??
We managed to steal a photo together as a family of three at Merchant Court. Thanks to Mr Policeman who was patroling around due to AYG. Mr Policeman actually offered to help us take a photo. How nice.

Elijah flips again!

While putting Elijah to sleep for his naptime this morning, Elijah flips again from tummy to his back. This is his second time flipping..the 1st time happened on last Wed 24th June...but I really thought it was a by luck thing. Hehehhe didn't think much. This morning, he actually flipped twice and proved to mummy..he's a big boy...strong enough to flip already. I'm so proud of U Elijah...way to go. And mummy even had the opportunity to video half of your second flip. :) Well here it is.

A walk in the Park

Today is a beautiful Sat....and so I thought that Daddy has not take a nice walk with mummy and Elijah before so today shall be the day. We happily push Elijah in the pram....letting him enjoy the nice breeze.

I think Elijah is getting pretty used to the pram already....good job. We brought the camera along and manage to put up some nice family shots including shots of U smiling happily. Well here are some of the photos.

Elijah and our home in the backdrop.....a nice garden for him to enjoy. A key reason for making the place our home.

Elijah's 1st pram ride

Decided that it was time for Elijah to try out pram rides. I'm abit worried how he might respond....coz he didn't quite like car seat sometimes...especially the night rides...plus he doesn't like to lie down for too long. Anyway...decided to try him out on hi pram for a short ride to the park near ah ma's place. Had to quietly disappear coz cousin Claudia might want to follow if she found out about it. So I quietly set up the pram and sneak off with Elijah.

Hmm..throughout the pram ride..he was quiet...alittle puzzled but other than that he was alright with it. I tried sitting down at a bench...he even gave me a smile when I talked to him. Guess it wasn't so bad afterall. But think if I sat there any longer...he would have been really bored by then and started his complains. He seems to enjoy it when he was being pushed around. Oh well...perhaps we could try with a shopping trip in future. :)

When I reached ah ma's place....cousins Claudia and Darius were running around in the garden...managed to snap a few shots. :) Well ur very 1st pram ride. Wasn't it fun? Well, there'll be more pram rides in future yah.

A 1st real outing to Singapore Flyer

Today is really an exciting day for Elijah. It's Elijah's 1st decent outing...not to the nearby malls for groceries shopping but a real outing. His day starts early.....10am to the Singapore Flyer. We are celebrating Father's day cum Mother's birthday today. We had long due flyer tickets which Iris bought with the NTUC card deal. We wanted to go on Xmas eve but lucky for us..the Flyer was stuck 1 day before...and thus was closed for a period of time. Well, at last manage to get my family to the flyer. Real excited about it. But alas...I think I've misplaced the tickets...sigh. Oh well....I'm not going to let that spoil my beautiful day at the flyer with my family.

On our way there...it looked cloudy...was praying hard it wouldn't rain. Luckily it didn't.

Well...think we all had a great time in our very own capsule. Cheewan had a great idea to bring the tripod.....Whyemun whiped out his Nikon SLR....so we had great shots in the sky. :) Mum was busy pacifying sleepy Elijah. Dad listening to the commentary provided. It was bazaar...Ellie actually brought homework to the flyer to do. Hhahahah. Elliot busy playing with his McQueen and cars. Guess we were all quite entertained for that half hour. It was lovely to see dragonboats at Marina barrage far far away. Too bad Brother couldn't join us. Was sad about it but oh well...perhaps the next family trip then. Poor Elijah was sleeping the whole way though. Wish we had family photo of him not sleeping hehehe. But luckily we manage to take 1 before heading to the skies.

Afterthat, we headed to Noble house for a nice lunch. Ordered the kids fave....Peking Duck and fried rice. Had a whole load of dim sum. It was a lovely day. I totally enjoyed myself. Managed to make Elijah smile lots while his daddy was carrying him. Glad we managed to take a few shots of that. Not sure if Elijah enjoyed it as much as I did..think he was abit cranky coz of lack of sleep. Oh well...maybe when he grows alittle older, he'll enjoy family trips more.

Meanwhile I let the photos speak for itself.

Elijah turns 3 months old

I've been wanting to start a blog about Elijah since his birth but guess with a few misfortunes...it was tough...I'll elaborate on his birth....and the misfortunes and his development over the 3 month slowly in the different blogs. Too many things to cover and too little time to backtrack. But I guess I really want to start before more and more of little Elijah's development just fly past through my own eyes and I didn't even bother jotting them down. Think I'll live to regret by then.

Having a child is once in a lifetime event and no 2 individual can be the same...which means if I do want another kid....it'll never be the same as going through Elijah's growth phase...so this really means a whole ton to me.

Have been so tired and worn out ever since his birth. Raising a kid is never easy. It's tough yet sweet. So contradicting, isn't it? I guess only mothers will understand what I mean eh. Just like the taste of dark chocolate...bitter sweet. A little mix of both...hehehe and I love dark chocolate. Well.....right now..am loving everybit being mum....loving my love right now...waking up just to see my little darling Elijah...and ur daddy of course..it's a fantastic feeling especially not having to think about work at all. I'm gonna miss these precious moments when I get back to work next year.

Today Elijah turns 12 weeks exactly. How time flies...and I suppose this will be a good time to start blogging about Elijah. :)

The day started with Daddy being trigger happy as we just bought the new sony cybershot....Daddy managed to take quite a few shots of U looking happy. Daddy was really happy with the camera as most imptly it took fantastic indoor shots. Elijah...u're daddy's darling..daddy was so disappointed with the photos he took with the SLR that he bought another camera just to make sure we dun miss ur growing phases and development.

Elijah's 1st Father's Day Celebration
We went to the Zhicar near Sembawang park to celebrate Father's Day with Cheewan's family. It was a simple yet heartwarming meal...once again Elijah slept almost throughout the whole meal in the nice sling. Guess he simply loves the warmth provided by the Sling..and it's a really rainy evening..what a nice day to sleep yah Elijah.

Colicky Elijah

Elijah has been crying lots to sleep since Friday night and it only occurs during the night. Pains me to see U cry like this. Wish I know why u're crying. I think it's coz U are colic. Initially I always thought it was due to disrupted sleep....at home...evening time always meant going to granny's house for dinner during ur evening....at ah ma's house...U were always woken by ur cousin Claudia. But today....U were at home all this while...no1 woke U up but U woke up on ur own and cried and cried after that. My conclusion is that U are colicky during ur evenings. I wish it'll go away soon. So painful to hear U cry like this and so angry. Wish I can soothe ur pain or uncomfortableness.

I'm not sure if the colic drops help but sure worth a try....not sure if U stop crying coz of the drops or coz U're simply too tired by then. U were so tired that U slept from 10pm feed till the next morning 5am. And considering U ate at 8pm...that is a whole 9 hours without feed. Is that considered sleeping through the nite? Perhaps it is. Well done Elijah...U did it.
